An extraordinary challenge for a worthy cause
WBro Guy Smith is taking on an extraordinary challenge — running from Northumberland Provincial Office, 17 Lansdowne Court, Newcastle upon Tyne, all the way to Freemasons' Hall.
This remarkable journey is in aid of the Northumberland 2031 Festival Appeal, raising funds to support charitable causes and make a lasting difference in our communities.
What makes this challenge even more special is that Guy plans to call in at eight Provincial Lodges along the route to London, meeting Brethren, sharing fellowship, and spreading awareness for the Appeal. Final lodge visits are still being confirmed, adding even more excitement as the journey unfolds.
From Newcastle to London, every mile run represents determination, resilience, and the true spirit of Freemasonry through charity.
Please get behind WBro Guy Smith, cheer him on, share his challenge, and donate if you are able. Every contribution, large or small, will help this worthy cause.
Let’s come together and support Guy on this unforgettable journey.

Guy’s London Journey is special because it is far more than a long-distance run — it is a story of commitment, endurance, charity, and purpose.
First, the sheer scale of the challenge captures attention. Running from Northumberland Provincial Office to Freemasons' Hall is an extraordinary physical and mental undertaking. People admire anyone willing to test themselves over such a distance.
Second, it has meaning beyond sport. Guy is not running for personal glory — he is doing it in aid of the Northumberland 2031 Festival Appeal. That turns miles into donations, effort into opportunity, and personal sacrifice into community benefit.
Third, it connects two important places: Northumberland and London. Symbolically, it links local Freemasonry with the wider Masonic family at Freemasons' Hall, creating a journey people can follow and feel part of.
Fourth, it is relatable and inspiring. Many people have their own challenges—health, age, motivation, or life obstacles. Seeing someone commit to such a demanding goal encourages others to believe they can do difficult things too.
Finally, it creates a shared story. Supporters can track progress, sponsor stages, welcome him along the route, and celebrate the finish. That sense of community makes it interesting not just as Guy’s journey, but as something everyone can be part of.
In short: it combines adventure, charity, determination, and community spirit — the kind of challenge people naturally want to support.
